Anikó Kuikka

Ankiò Kuikka’s (b. 1986, Finland) practice consists of incredibly adventurous moving image projects which are shown within self contained installation, normally an extension of the video work. Past projects range from 30-minutes of modernised Finnish folklore, being played out by a 20-strong cast, all shot on a smartphone in one continuous scene, to Hi- Def cinematic pieces shot across international locations. Kuikka’s videos have a haunting quality to them, a passive aggressiveness that befriends the viewer just before leaning in a little too close for comfort.

Richie Moment, India Mackie, Adam Shield, Gabriella Boyd, Jack Burton, Anikó Kuikka, Martin Groß, Jessy Jetpacks, Jonathan Kelly, Sam Austen, Fani Parali, Sebastian Jefford and more

New site-specific works responding to a Grade-B listed industrial space in Glasgow’s historic Barras region. CHUMMING is interested in the culture a space inhabits and the group show as a model for artists to cross over, further exploring new levels of discourse and engagement, both in and out of the gallery.

The exhibition sparks a relationship between the artists, audience and place, while accompanying events include unique happenings with local musicians and filmmakers, informed by open source action and exchange.

Supported by Glasgow International and the Royal Academy of Art.
