Pester and Rossi
Grounded in sculptural performance, Pester and Rossi create live works that challenge conventional perceptions of the everyday, often incorporating outlandish DIY costumes and props and working with an anarchistic and feminist approach.
Through an exploration of the visceral and the playful, the duo create and experiment in bizarre and unpredictable worlds. Responding to the conditions of their surroundings, using sculptural props, colour and performance, Pester and Rossi create absurd and humorous gestures and interventions to question our perceptions of modern day existence. They use visual puns, irony, bawdiness and satire as devices to interpret, engage and subvert the quotidian. Pester and Rossi are interested in social behaviour and interaction.
They explore the duality between their bodies, as objects, and their relationships with/to a particular site, often building temporary structures and wearable sculpture, that they must negotiate within; setting themselves boundaries and limitations with regards to the body, sexuality, social norms and rituals.
