Deniz Uster – Regeneration vs Gentrification:

The Role of Housing Associations, Standing Against Urban Displacement

Housing associations are non-profit organisations that provide low-cost social housing for people in need of a home. Any excess income is used to maintain existing housing, to help finance new homes and to support community initiatives. The final talk will revolve around Housing Associations and their efforts around community and urban regeneration.

During this discussion Glasgow’s prominent regeneration projects will be debated, scrutinising the permeable boundary between regeneration and gentrification of a neighbourhood.
