For his first show at Mary Mary, London-based Jesse Wine will present a group of new ceramic sculptural works. Wine’s dynamic use of ceramics is based upon his fascination with objects. Using traditional materials and construction methods, he produces a vast array of sculptural forms, self portraits and abstract vessel-like structures.
At the core of his practice is a conceptual pursuit through making. Wine works with his materials in a gestural manner, modelling forms that seem to fold in or collapse, working alongside an element of chance, which sees Wine relinquishing control over glazes and the effects they produce.
