This exhibition was due to take place during Glasgow International 2020, 23 April – 10 May, which has been postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis. The festival will be re-staged in 2021 with dates to be announced.

It’s in the detail brings together work by three artists based in different cities across England and Scotland who have much more in common than their medium: Nils McDiarmid from Edinburgh, Leslie Thompson from Manchester, and Robin Wise, who lives in Aberdeen. All three predominantly make drawings, mostly using black ink on paper. They also share a love of intricate pattern and line in creating works that imbue recognisable images with new energy and life.

Thomson is undertaking a three-day residency in the gallery, during which visitors can watch the artist working live as he steadily builds up his drawings. This is a fascinating opportunity to gain an insight into the creative process.
