Jason Sweeney (b. in Glasgow, Scotland) lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland.
Sweeney graduated in 2002 from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, England, before moving to London where, among other roles, he performed in the West End production of STOMP. Alongside performance and playwriting Sweeney’s creative practice includes writing, recording & producing music (Boffo Bear Records/Sweeney Straddles the Sun), fine art and directing. For the past two years, he has collaborated with the Art Shed Collective at the Edinburgh Fringe, Scotland, this year holding free drama workshops under the title Think, Devise, Play!
As a playwright, Jason’s first major play Ena Afore The Wilderness was produced at the Old Hairdresser’s, Glasgow, Scotland in 2014.
Recent works include: A Disruptive Influence/Robert the Spider (NTS), Dancin’ In Yer Street (AJ Productions) and The Albatross’ 2015 production of Aladdin. He is currently working on a new play Ultra Virus, to be produced by his own company Feart a’ Theatre in 2016.
