40 Fox Street

Uncover hidden layers of Glasgow history through three-person project, Sex Club. Artists Erika Silverman, Raymond Strachan and Debbie Young, whose diverse practices span painting, sculpture, film and textiles, are each responding to 40 Fox Street, an assuming building that has housed a range of recent tenants: from a private college accused of false advertising (the sign is still visible outside) to a private members’ club.

The artists aim was to draw out some of the building’s past narratives, partly still visible if you look closely enough. The project provokes discussion about sex, public health, queer spaces, kinks and intimacy within an urban context.
