slippery logics, entangled memories: Harvey Dimond

This walking and reading event, conceived and led by writer, editor and artist Harvey Dimond, departs from the positionality of Florence Street on the River Clyde and its attendant historical significance to the Scottish and British colonial and imperial projects. The texts explored in this event will examine the slippery logics of the colonial port city (and its potential as a 'creolised' space) and how colonial designations of the 'undesirable' can be used as a framework for resisting and dismantling institutional violence. Participants will also be invited to walk a small route alongside (and over) the River Clyde as a way to think through some of the ideas discussed during the event.

Harvey Dimond is a British-Barbadian writer, editor and artist. Their practices explore the historical and contemporary transatlantic relationship between Scotland, the Caribbean and Southern Africa.
