Leslie Thomson is an artist who lives and works in Manchester. Thompson has been an artist at Venture Arts support studios in Manchester for over twenty years. Through this time he has been able to extend his innate illustrative gift into stitch, animation and printmaking. He often depicts scenes from television and film from 1970 to 1990. His drawings are punctuated with fascinating anecdotes from film, music and TV.
Thompson found success when he sold all of his vitrine series on the opening day at the OutsiderXchanges project booth at The Manchester Contemporary in 2016. He has documented several events and conferences through live drawing; something he enjoys very much.
Solo exhibitions include: Age of Creativity, The Whitworth, Manchester (2019); Social Works: Live, Live drawing, Manchester Metropolitan University and Axisweb, Manchester (2019); Leslie Thompson, The Superstar Artist Drawer, Project Ability, Glasgow (2017).
