Brand Glasgow

A panel discussion on who decides the identity of a city and how. Key players and experts in city branding will discuss how Glasgow is presented to the world and the implications of its approach. The audience is encouraged to have their say, with all perspectives and levels of experience welcome.

Chaired by artist Elizabeth Hudson, speakers will include: Susan Deighan, Head of City Marketing, Glasgow Life; David Whyte, Designer/Co-founder of Tangent Graphic and creator of the ‘People Make Glasgow’ city brand; Dr Massimo Giovanardi, Lecturer at University of Leicester and editor of the book ‘Inclusive Place Branding: Critical Perspectives on Theory and Practice’.

This event is programmed as part of Glasgow International 2018 project ‘Tilting at Windmills’, which considers the symbiotic relationship between authorities and grassroots activity in the identity of a place. Other events in this project include the play ‘The Faceless Enemy of Me, Sits in the Squares’ and participatory performance ‘May Day Trolley Joust’, both held at Laurieston Arena.

Free, booking required. Book via Eventbrite.
