Completed in 1894, 5 Florence Street was designed by Glasgow architect and designer Thomas Lennox Watson and built of red ashlar. It originally served as the Adelphi Terrace School and it is still possible to see the segregated 'Boys' and 'Girls' entrances. Today, it is one of the few pre-World War Two buildings in the Gorbals, on the south bank of the River Clyde, and the building recently housed an annexe of Glasgow College of Building and Printing. In 2018 the building was sold and now serves as office and studio space for a range of small businesses.
