Khaled Hourani

The first retrospective of Palestinian artist Khaled Hourani brought together existing and new paintings, installations and conceptual work from throughout his career.

Hourani's work has had a vital influence on the growth of contemporary art in Palestine and his artistic practice often responds to the surrealism and almost comic absurdity of current affairs. As founder and director of the International Academy of Art Palestine, he initiated the Picasso in Palestine project in 2011, which brought a masterpiece by Picasso to the West Bank for the first time in history.

Hourani won the Leonore Annenberg Proze for Art and Social Change in 2013.
