La Chose Encardrée

In the corner of the room, there are artworks placed in a single large frame. They are on either side of the pillar placed in the centre of the corner of the wall.

A large frame is made around a door, moving onto the floor. The frame has two artworks placed centrally on either sode of the door. One is a cloth and the other is like a painting. On the door, there is a multimedia artwork placed centrally in the top half of it.

There is a large frame covering the space on the side of and around a square multimedia artwork. There is a small framed photograph placed in its centre.

In a show, the frame can be the context, the history of the space, the surrounding pieces or the curatorial concept. ‘La Chose Encadrée’ (‘the framed thing’) focuses on those artworks that jump out of their frame; explosions of motifs, invasions of patterns, disorganized collections of objects and materials. This exhibition explores the idea of the frame as a playing field.

The exhibition was curated by Camille le Houezec & Joey Villemont, featuring works by Gabriele Beveridge, Paul Cowan, Michael Krebber, Landon Metz and Jesse Moretti.
