OHIO
OHIO presented a solo exhibition by pioneering conceptual artist Stephen Kaltenbach. At its core lay Kaltenbach's series of adverts placed in Artforum for one year from November 1968; a collection of textual instructions which sat quietly - even noticeably - within the architecture of the magazine. These adverts are typical of his slippery humour and artistic poise, being archetypal examples of the shift towards dematerialised works whilst offering prophetic critique by foregrounding the self-promotion and, at times, cynical marketing strategies that defined the influential era of conceptual art. This exhibition is Kaltenbach's first solo presentation in a UK gallery.
